Shame & Inadequacy

Do you struggle with Shame?

You may be wondering, what exactly is shame? If your inner dialogue has ever asked you questions like, “what is WRONG with me?” or you have an overwhelming sense you are fundamentally flawed-  then you’re no stranger to shame. If you’ve caught on to all the buzz happening around prominent voices around shame such as Kristen Neff and Brene Brown- you know that this is a common experience for so many people.

Sadly, many of us who grew up in homes or religious backgrounds are all too familiar with shame.  From the “should”s and the “shouldn’t”s, we found ourselves constantly inadequate to the standards of perfection that seemed to exist just to knock us down. Or perhaps we weren’t even expected to be perfect, but we constantly found ourselves with this feeling of being “not-enough”.

For certain, many of us internalized shaming messages and walked around with broken records inside our hearts telling us “you don’t deserve that” or “you are unworthy” or “you are such a burden”.  Such heavy thoughts to hold once, let alone on a regular basis.

If you find yourself identifying with any of those broken record thoughts, you have come to the right place. Though it is true that shame is a part of every person’s life, it doesn’t have to be at the center of your life.

There is healing for you.
